Airport Advisory Committee meeting on 10.7.21 M.A.Aleem Advisory Committee Member Tiruchirappalli International Airport discussed the following point
1.Trichy Airport Runway Expansion
It is the long pending and must requirement for Tiruchirappalli aviation related developmentd. Because of the insufficient runway length, we are unable to plan for the commercial routes like Kuwait, Riyadh, Jeddah and Many. Imposing load restrictions, we are unable to take maximum cargo. Despite these constraints, Air India Express providing services to almost all the Gulf destinations. Indigo also doing. If runway expansion will be completed, immediately, Sri Lankan airlines, Air Asia & Scoot air will change their aircrafts to Wide body instead of existing Narrow bodied. Also Chances for Singapore airlines arrivals.
2. For export Cargo, we will have space for minimum 60 tonnes per day. It will bring minimum of 1 crore foreign remittances per day . Need more space to takle the more cargoes and get more revenue.
3.Trichy to be included in the Bilateral Air Services Agreement - BASA part*
Tiruchirappalli is not a approved service points for any Gulf countries designated carriers. Here why we are mentioning Gulf countries means, more than 50% of Indian international traffic is depending 6 Gulf countries are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates - UAE. Our Indian Government is not allowing Gulf countries designated carriers and also Indian designated carriers are also not providing sufficient services to these Gulf countries important destinations. Now the destinations covered by Air India Express is temporary.
4.Air India Express is nearing its 1000th repatriation services . This should be honored.
5.Air traffic staffs work during COVID-19 Pandemic should be recognised and honored.
6.Good news for Trichy selected among 113 cities of india to create Pedestrian friendly streets ( Lawsons Road and Karur bypass road) in the Trichy Corporation by central Government of India under " Streets For Challenge". Airport road can also be considered as one of the choice under this scheme.
7 . The unusual delay in the completion of re-carpeting, which is an essential maintenance work being done after a gap of ten years in Trichy, has led to cancellation of flights to a few domestic destinations.
8.Air India Express (AIE) will operate a special flight from Male to Trichy on June and it should also operate from Trichy to mali .
9. AAI mooted a proposal in 2010-2011 to extend the runway length to 12,500 feet. This would enable the airport to handle wide body flight.

11.The project has been awarded to a Mumbai-based private company for execution, and will cost around ₹30 crore
After a gap of 10 years, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has embarked on the task of resurfacing the runway of the Tiruchi international airport. The project has been awarded to a Mumbai-based private company for execution of the work, which will cost around ₹30 crore. This work should be speed up.
12. installing a new and upgraded Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Tiruchi International Airport to replace the existing one is expected to begin in the first week of July.
A technical team from the Radio Construction and Development Unit of Airports Authority of India (AAI) from New Delhi will carry out the installation of the ₹3.5 crore-upgraded ILS system, which will aid in smoother landing of flights at the non-metro airport.
Ahead of putting in place a new system, AAI-Tiruchi carried out civil and electrical works connected with the project. A concrete platform has been constructed at the end of Runway 27 adjoining Tiruchi-Pudukottai National Highway for installation of a set of new antennas . Congratulations for this work
