Eco-friendly Deepavali
Fireworks have to be used with restraint by people due to emission of pollutants in the air that could affect their health. The fine dust particles of copper, zinc, sodium, lead, magnesium, cadmium and pollutants like oxides of sulphur and nitrogen, get settled on all surfaces and pose respiratory problems, and congestion of throat and chest. People generally suffer from eye, nose and throat related problems.
Radioactive and poisonous elements are present in crackers that explode into various colours. The fumes could cause complications for pregnant women and increase toxicity in the bodies of children.
Deepavali ought to be celebrated in an eco-friendly manner.
