COVID-19: End in Sight With Vaccines
Year 2021 is entered with 3 vaccines for COVID-19 and with a surge in newer coronavirus variants which are spreading and were first reported in UK and then European countries, the USA, Africa, Australia and in India.
At the end of 2020, the global total COVID-19 cases has crossed the 83.7 million mark (83,787,399) and it has registered a global ever highest single day spike of over 7.3 lakh (732,197) cases on the last day of 2020 with the higher single day deaths of 13,361 cases.
The USA has registered a single day highest spike of over 2.2 lakh (228,413) COVID-19 cases and the total number of cases has crossed the 20.4 million mark (20,445,654), with over 3.5 lakh (354,215) deaths and a single day higher deaths of 3,438 at the end of 2020.
Cases and death rate in India Tamilnadu and in Trichy are declining and India is in the seventh place in the list of global single day spikes of COVID-19 cases, with 19k (19,046) cases and the total has crossed the 10.2 million mark (10,286,329) on the last day of 2020. The recovered cases in India were second to the U.S and around the 9.8 million mark (9,881,786) on 31.12.20.
On the last day of 2020, in the world about 218 countries (Samoa is the 218th country added on 19.11.20) and territories in all continents, including Antarctica, and in 2 international conveyances have recorded over 83.7 Million (83,787,399) COVID-19 cases.
At end of 2020, in the world, Europe has the maximum number of (23,653,365) COVID-19 cases and maximum 543,836 COVID-19 related deaths.
North America is in second place, with the total confirmed number of COVID-19 cases 23,430,817 and 514,352 deaths.
Globally, Asia is in third place with 20,681,901 COVID-19 cases and 337,354 deaths.
South America is placed fourth with 13,205,602 cases and 362,733 deaths.
Africa is in fifth place with 2,773,166 cases and 65,566 deaths.
With 48,388 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,059 deaths, the Oceanic region is globally placed in sixth place at the end of 2020 in the current COVID-19 Pandemic.
