Tips To Prevent Facial Paralysis (Bell's Palsy) in Winter- M.A.Aleem Neurologist Trichy Tamilnadu India

Take Care in Chill weather

In winter weather conditions bring not just chill, but can also impact our health in many  ways.  Early morning walk, two wheelers raid,  travel in a car bus or lorry with open windows may  affect your facial nerve and results in facial paralysis or Bell's palsy.

In winter exposure to cold chill air, reactivate the herpes virus present in the nerve sheath of the facial nerve which passes through inner ear. This  may leads   weakness of the one side facial muscles with difficulty in closure of the eye and to deviate the corner of the mouth on affected side. There may also loss of taste with excessive sound perceptionon affected sir . This condition is common during  winter months more in young aged people .

So please wear cap, ear muff  shawl ,scarf or towel with covering of the ears to prevent facial paralysis during walking  raiding and travelling in winter chill weather . And also avoid sleeping out of home in open places or veranda or in farm  in the cold weather to prevent this type of facial paralysis.

Re: Our vulnerable world of vanishing safety nets

Dear Editor

Need Lifestyle Changes

In recent days people are facing many health problems due to unhealthy food, internet addiction , sedentary lifestyle, cybersex and cyber crimes.

People’s health is also affected due to usage of alcohol ,tobacco and due to accidents and violence

Climate change and increases in the incidence of vector born, water born diseases and due to emerging new and older infectious diseases are also becoming challenges to human health .

Air pollution and lifestyle changes are increasing the incidence of non communicable diseases in recent days.

So a safety net in all aspect is important to save the children, adolescents adults and older people all over the world.

Mitigation measures for climate changes , healthy lifestyle healthy food, vaccination cover , pollution control and care for the refugees and migrants without discrimination with green space expansion in the living environment are the need of the hour for a healthy planet
