Kurinji flowers (Strobilanthes kunthiana), famous for their rare mass blooming cycle, transform hills in India's Western Ghats (Kerala, TN, Karnataka) into carpets of blue or purple, typically every 12 years, with blooms like the recent 2018 or 2025 events, signaling  biodiversity  with various species having different cycles, from 8 to 16 years.

Blooming Cycle of this flowers depends on the species and the   cycles may   vary from 8 to 16 years.

This plant flowers gregariously, dies after blooming, and relies on seeds for the next generation. It has also some

Cultural Significance in some trials. Kurinji flowers have been

mentioned in many ancient Tamil Sangam literatures 

A significant bloom occurred in 2018 across parts of the Tamilnadu hills.

Another bloom is noted in late 2025 and in early 2026 in the region of hills of Trichy District' s Thuvarankurichy Forest range for the first time. The next expected blooms is around 2033 or 2037  in this region

The horticultural, agricultural , forest departments and persons interested in botany must step in this to study this flowers blooms to confirm the species, blooming cycle of these flowers. This may also help to predict the next   blossom of these flowers in this region
